Adult student building location and facilities

Section:
Why IH Bristol

Way back in 2018 and 2019 we set out on an ambititous programme of architect designed alterations and additions to our '2 Queens Avenue' building. The main addition was in the form of a highly modern and spacious new common room for our students. Final completion of the buiding programme was scheduled for spring 2020 and got a bit interrupted by Covid ..... so we finished it ourselves.

Our adult student lessons, that had always taken place in our other building on Oakfield Road, were consolidated in our Queens Avenue building after Covid and the students - we believe - liked the new place: both the location and the facilities.

Let's talk a bit about the location: we believe our 2 Queens Avenue building is the best located language school site in Bristol. Not only are we in Clifton, we are in the cultural and social heartland of Clifton, in amongst the university buildings and students and on the doorstep of countless coffee shops, eateries, shops, pubs (if you want) and buildings as iconic as the Wills Memorial Building, the Bristol Museum, the Victoria Rooms, Cabot Tower and the Royal West of England Academy. Fancy a sandwich or a barista-made coffee? You don't have go out any further than a 30 second walk but we've also got Caffè Nero, Waitrose, Cosmo, Subway, Illy caffe, Sainsbury and Wagamama inside a further 3 minutes.

Bristol's world class Cabot Circus shopping centre is only about a mile away, if you fancy a walk, or 15 minutes on the bus.
Did we mention that we're extremely well served for nearby bus connections: no fewer than eight (1,2,2a,3,4,8,72,72a) bus lines have stops within a few minutes.

Brandon Hill, the harbourside, Cabot Circus, the Suspension Bridge and the Downs are all within easy walking distance.

The building

.. is a fine Victorian era detached building over four floors with eight classrooms.

Check out the following 30 second walkthrough of the building:

The garden and student common room

You can choose to spend your break or lunch times in our common room or back garden, in the shelter of our tree, parasols or shade sail.
If it's a sunny day and you're a sun lover then the front garden will catch the rays in the mornings and the back garden (pictured below) in the middle and late afternoon.

There is a football table, our Yamaha B3 upright piano (very popular) and table tennis in the front garden.

The classrooms

All classrooms have interactive whiteboards and most have node chairs, to maximise the classroom dynamics.

Bristol, famed for grafitti

And finally, to remind our students of the city they're studying in, as soon as you walk into our reception you will see our grafitti mural
paying tribute the Bristol and its accomplishments. Here's how it was put up by Gage Graphics:
