Students of the month - November

Khaled is from Riyadh in Saudi Arabia, where he works as a maths teacher in a high school.  He is learning English because he would like to take the IELTS exam, and he eventually plans apply for a Masters in finance or economics.

Khaled likes living in Bristol because he finds the people here friendly, the atmosphere peaceful, and the green spaces beautiful.  At the school,  Khaled appreciates the wide range of topics we cover in class and he thinks the teachers are welcoming and approachable.  He has also enjoyed participating in the Social Programme with the other students and has especially fond memories of the trip to the Bath Christmas markets, despite the bitterly cold weather that day!

The teachers chose Khaled because he is supportive and kind towards the other students in his class, he is motivated to learn and asks interesting questions, and he has calming, friendly and positive presence in the classroom. Well done Khaled!

Brayan is from a city called Pasto in Colombia, and is a Lawyer. He is learning English for several reasons – for his future education, to help with work, and because he enjoys travelling.

Brayan is one of many students who had originally booked and paid for a course which was affected by school closures in the global pandemic of 2020. IH Bristol was delighted to be able to step in and offer to give Brayan the face to face course which he had been hoping for.

He says that he likes the school’s methodology and the passion for education shown by the teachers, adding that they are friendly and inspire students to improve their skills and communication. Brayan also said that he enjoyed the book club with our director Val!

The teachers have chosen Brayan as the student of the month because of his consistent hard work in lessons, asking relevant questions and continuing to make progress across all areas of his learning. Congratulations!
