Bristol is absolutely buzzing in May, and to make sure our students don’t miss a single thing, we’ve collected the very best of what there is to do and see in Bristol this month.
There’s a brilliant line-up of comedians rolling into Bristol this month, including Schalk Bezuidenhout, Rosie Holt, Tiff Stevenson, Jack Barry, Paul Myrehaug and Ahir Shah. Or, if art’s more your thing, check out the exhibitions happening all over Bristol.
Bristol’s always explosive music scene delivers again, with the Bristol Jazz festival, alongside world renowned acts like The Proclaimers and the Arctic Monkeys.
We’ve got exercise for everyone this May – join Bristol Walk Fest, the Strawberry Lane Cycle Project or even try out Bristol’s half marathon if you’re feeling fit!
Enjoy theatre shows at a variety of venues. Notable highlights include the celebrated musical The Lion King, premiering at the Bristol Hippodrome on the 18th, and Pride and Prejudice* (*Sort of), a hilarious reimagining of a Jane Austen classic, running at the Old Vic. Mixing classic circus performance with social commentary, NoFit State Circus returns to Bristol with their fantastic new show SABOTAGE.
Dive into history with Berkeley castle’s Tudor day or M-Shed’s new 650 trail, which celebrates Celebrate 650 years of Bristolian history through objects. Alternatively, head to Tyntesfield National Trust House to see the incredible Red Dress Project – a piece has been embroidered on by 375 different people in over 50 countries.
Prefer shopping at night? Enjoy food, drink, dancing, music, and other local produce at St Nick’s night market – running from now till the end of summer!
Bristolians are always up for a party, and this spring you can head down to the Stokes Croft Block party or the Trinity Garden Party. And the lead up to the festival season kicks off with the fantastic Dot to Dot and Love Saves The Day music festivals, they’re not to be missed!
God save the King! The coronation of (soon to be) King Charles is a once in a lifetime, historical event. Celebrations will go on all over Bristol: street parties, music festivals, afternoon tea – there’s something for everyone!
