Included with every International House Bristol Young Learner camp is all tuition and the following:
Young learners come to us from all over the world and many have been learning English for years already. This means, they have used various published materials. So, we decided to create our own, in-house materials for Young Learner English camps. This guarantees that our young learners are not repeating materials they have seen before. We update the materials regularly to ensure that the topics remain relevant and current. No wonder that our young learners make progress and that so many of them choose to return to us year after year.
We know what is important to teens: Wifi access. It is the first thing they ask for when they arrive in homestay and it is no different in school. We have high speed wifi in our buildings and all young learners are helped to log on on their first day. This helps them to relax in a new environment and to share the wonderful things they are doing on their social media feeds.
Learning a new language can be stresssful but over the years, we noticed that classes where we ask students to focus on an entirely different skill allows them to relax and use the language they have already learnt. On up to 3 afternoons each week young learners can take free creative classes, where they learn a new skill and work towards a project. In the winter camp, we offer Drama and Video-Making classes, in spring and summer there is a choice of Video-Making, Drama and Photography.
You can find details of these classes here: creative classes.
We offer a full activity programme as part of the young learners camps, including cultural, sport, and social events. For examples of activities find the activity calendar here
We want to make sure that everybody gets as much as possible out of their time in the UK. Our full-day Saturday trips to locations such as London, Cardiff, Oxford, Warwick Castle, and exciting local destinations like Wells or Cheddar give students the chance to explore not just Bristol but the surrounding region and further afield.
The days combine a guided tour element with free time so that the students don't miss any of the must-see places but still have time to explore on their own. We provide staffing to ensure that all young learners are safe on all trips.
English is constantly changing and we want to ensure that our students are learning the most up to date version. That is why we developed and recorded the International House Bristol Phrase of the Day. We will teach all young learners a new phrase each day to use in their English! These are special phrases and sayings that English speakers use all the time, but you don't often see these phrases in English course books or other study material.
And the learning continues after you leave us. You can visit our website every day to learn and practise the new Phrase of the Day and improve your English.
One of the most valuable things about studying at International House Bristol is meeting other people from all over the world. Language is all about communicating and learning about others so we encourage our young learners to share aspects of their culture while learning more about others cultures every day.
For young learners who are staying in accommodation organised by IH Bristol, we provide bus passes and lunches during the week, including pizza on Fridays! Those in their own accommodation can choose to pay us to organise this or can do it themselves.
All young learners receive a free International House Bristol t-shirt in a colour of their choice.
