IELTS Exam Preparation

30 lessons (22.5 hours per week)

In your morning classes, lessons 1-4 you use an English course book at the level of the class, with a balance of skills, vocabulary and grammar. Every morning, we also teach our Phrase of the Day to help you sound more natural in your language use and our Cultural Question to help you learn about UK and other students’ cultures and to help prepare you for the listening and speaking section of the IELTS exam. Teachers include additional English focuses which are useful for the individual students in the class.

The afternoon classes, lessons 5 and 6, focus on the specific language and skills needed for the IELTS exam and on extended tasks to help you to improve your fluency.  We also give you strategies to help you during the exam. There are weekly practice tests and you are given personalised feedback on your exam progress.  We ensure the classes have targeted input for exam-relevant language.

This is the perfect course if you want to be successful in your IELTS exam. By ensuring you study with others at the same level as you and by focusing the classes on the necessary language and skills, we ensure your preparation is just what you need to be confident under exam conditions.

The weekly practice tests mean you are familiar with the demands of IELTS and they allow you to track your progress as the course goes forward. We personalise the feedback you get so you can recognise your linguistic strengths and weaknesses and concentrate on those areas which need extra work.

How does the course link to the exam?

The IELTS exam preparation course helps students improve all their skills and every aspect of their language.

• Grammar - so you are more correct in English, and easier to understand and less likely to make errors on exam day
• Vocabulary and idioms - so you can understand much more English, and sound up to date and natural, particularly in the Writing paper
• Pronunciation of English - your accent improves and you speak more naturally. This improves your result in the Speaking section
• Spoken fluency -  the examiner understands you better, and you can show how good your English is
• Listening comprehension - Listening can feel stressful because you cannot control it. So listening practice is very important before exam day
• Reading comprehension - helps you to  read all sorts of English texts and understand them better and so to deal better with the Reading paper
• Writing skills - so you can write different sorts of English texts on demand and understand what language is needed to make a piece of text suitable for the exam questions
• British life and culture - you will also learn about our culture, the media and the British way of life, which is excellent extra knowledge to take into the exam 

On the IELTS preparation course, you are immersed in English for the whole day and this allows you to grow in confidence especially as your fluency increases. Your learning skills will improve, so you will be able to continue to make progress in English. You will also learn good ways to manage the exam. And it is excellent preparation for working in an English-speaking or bilingual environment.
