Accommodation FAQs

You can take the bus or walk. Most of our students travel by public transport (up to 30 minutes by bus) or walk to school.

Homestay: We cannot promise you your own bathroom in a homestay. Usually you share it with some members of the family, or with other students.

Residence: Yes, you will have your own private bathroom.

Homestay: You can do your laundry, but different hosts do this in different ways. Some hosts will do it for you, and some will ask you to use the washing machine. It is usually one wash a week.

Residence: There is a washing machine in the residence for all students to use. You will need to buy your own washing powder and other laundry products.

If you want to change your dates, please tell a member of staff at reception, or send us an email, as soon as you know your new dates. We can make changes if there is space.

If you plan to leave your accommodation early, please tell the office staff as soon as you can. You must give at least one week’s notice. We cannot give you a refund of your accommodation fees if you leave early, so we advise you to get insurance(Opens in a new tab/window) to cover this.

You can add one or two extra nights to the start or the end of your booking, but only if you book a stay of at least two weeks. You pay extra for these extra nights.

You should arrive on a Sunday and leave on a Saturday. Sometimes you can add an extra night or two to the start or the end of your stay.

Yes, but you must book your holiday more than one week before it starts. You can only book full weeks. If you do this, we will refund half the cost of the accommodation for your holiday.

Changes to your homestay booking:

• There is an administration fee.
• You must make changes more than one week before. If you do not give us enough notice, you will pay accommodation fees for the rest of that week.
• Changes can take several weeks to arrange. This depends on how many special requests there are, and whether hosts are free at that time.

Sometimes you can extend your stay in a homestay or residence, if there is space. Please note: our hosts are popular and are often booked months in advance, so you may need to move to a different homestay if you extend your stay. You can extend in the residence if there is space. If there is no space, you will need to leave and find other accommodation.

Yes. You pay a deposit, and we give it back to you after you leave – but only if you leave the room and bathroom in good condition, you have not caused any damage, and you have no unpaid charges. We return the deposit after we check the accommodation, which may take a few days. If the accommodation has not been cleaned properly, we may give back less of the deposit.

No. You cannot smoke or vape in a homestay or residence.

Homestay: Yes, you can, but you must tell us in advance. We need to ask if your host is free to host you over Christmas. There is also an extra fee to pay to the host for this period.
